Windows failed to start.

Hi Guys,
This is the first time I am using the forum.
Could you help me?

My computer was working properly,then I had a power problem, my computer turned off and turned on again.Now my windows doesn't open. When I try to open I receive this message:
Windows failed to start.
File:\windows\system32\config\system
Status:0xc000014c
Info:Windows failed to load because the system registry file is missing or corrupted.
Please help me to fix it without losing my files.I have a restore cd, but I dont want to use it, because I can't lose my files.The cd doesnt has the choice to repair windows.Just restore it.
I am using Windows vista premium and my computer is Aspire E380 (Acer)
It has C: and D: partition, but I dont know if it is 32 or 64
I already use all steps in F8 screen, safe mode....last configuration...anything didn't work.
Please help me!!

Hi DUNGOL,

Since you do not have a retail Vista installation DVD, this will show you how you can create a Recovery DVD (not like the OEM recovery DVD) to run Startup Repair from to see if it will help you.

Is possible to use USB pen drive (1Gb) to boot the computer instead cd or dvd?

Hi DUNGOL

The Tutorial says you have to use a CD or DVD.

Open Control Panel in classic view.
Double click on The System icon.
Look around in the window that opens,
that will tell you if your system is
32 bit or 64 bit.

I hope this helps.

I have not tried to do it on a USB pen drive before, but I will guess that it will probably not work. I would stick with a CD or DVD to be sure that it will work.
