I am running Vista Home Premium 32 bit on my desktop. It has Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.00 GHz 2992 Mhz, 1 Core, 2 logical Processors. Total physical memory 1014.81 mb.
My problem is that Windows Explorer is very slow. When I open up Explorer or anything else that require it, it takes a while to load (usually less than a minute, though). All I see is a white screen. My quicklaunch does the same thing. Once I have started it the first time, it is quicker to load the next time. The search function on the windows start bar is slow as well.
I had installed a program called Shell-less Explorer about a year ago. It seems that the problems started after that. I uninstalled the program just recently to see if it would fix it, but nothing has changed.
Any ideas?
Oh, also, my quicklaunch shortcuts stopped working correctly. Some things will work, like the snipping tool, others won't, like Word and Excel. Those links also will not work reliably from my windows start bar.
