hey i'm new to all this technological stuff and i'm getting really frustrated with my dvd maker. i am trying to burn a dvd with avi files, but even after downloading about 4 different codec packages it still won't work. keeps telling me my files are corrupted or invalid or something. now, on my laptop is where it's screwing up, but when i transfer the files to my boyfriend's computer, his dvd maker has no problem adding the files and burning the discs. my laptop is a gateway, i'm running vista home premium 64bit and i have intel centrino 2 (i don't know what that means or if that info helps). my bf's computer is hp, vista home premium 32bit and he's got amd. any help or info would be greatly appreciated, and thanks in advance!

Hello caelacole,
Have you tried to play these files to make sure they are ok ?.
Try converting your file from AVI to MPEG, and give it a go.

Enclosed are a couple of links. Top one is x32bit and bottom one is x64bit.
Hope this helps, good luck and post your results.

If you installed 4 different codec packs and they are on your system at the same time, you definitely have a problem. I suggest to uninstall them all ( but use the Reo unintaller - 4th option). Only with Revo you can delete all the junk they installed on your system. Revo Uninstaller Freeware - Uninstall Software, Remove Programs, Solve uninstall problems But even than it is not certain that your system works correctly. The codecs make a lot of modifications to the registry and with your amount of codecs, that may be a mess. A Vista reinstall would be in order in that case.
