Windows Defender Won't Work

Ok, I just got over a serious malware problem, but now I have a new problem: Windows Defender will not work...when I find the file it doesn't look like it should, and it says it cannot load. I tried downloading Windows Defender from Microsoft, but it says that I don't need the download because I would already have it on Windows Vista (wish they'd let me be the judge of that..)

So what do I do now?

Edit: OH, and Windows Update isn't working properly either..

I got Windows Firewall to work by restoring its settings, but strangely Windows Defender won't work (I thought Firewall was part of Defender..)

Thanks for the suggestions. This was the first time that I've worked with Command Prompt. I had to resort to the 4'th option, and it seemed to go ok...I wasn't sure how to close the program though (I just X-ed it out.) I rebooted but it still isn't working..

The "Error Code 0x800106ba" isn't the one I get. What I get is:

MSASCui.exe Application Error
The application failed to initialize properly (0x80000003) Click OK to terminate application

Update: I ran it as an Admin but it wouldn't work.

Hi Neurolanis; You have to have UAC turned on or it will revert to a user command rather than Administrator
