Windows Clean Install?

Okay was wondering first of all what is a windows clean install?

and how Do i obtain this?

I think I know what this is but not sure exactly, maybe more of how do I achieve this state of "clean install"!

Its the reinstallation of windows after formatting the drive or when you have to buy a retail version of windows to put onto a new hard drive.

you can not do clean install with upgrade DVD....

Before a clean install always download all the drivers that are required by your hardware.
After downloaded burn them to disk.
After you have done your clean install and applied all the updates, driver updates and have a clean virgin working system do a backup or create a slipstream install disk.
