'Windows cannot access the specified file...'

Hey guys. I don't know if I have posted this in the right forum and mods can feel free to move it.

I am having a rather annoying problem with file on my desktop that I use to emulate a game update.

For the last three weeks, the file has been running fine (with the occasional alert from AVG saying that inside the file holds a AutoIt worm, even though this file and AutoIt have been proved clean) and with no problem whatsoever until the other day when I tried to run the file again. When I double clicked on the file, a message saying that "Windows cannot find the file specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." showed up each time I tried.

I re-downloaded the file from it's original source and extracted it to a new folder on my desktop and again, the same problem occurred of not being able to open the file. I am the only user on my computer and have all administrator privileges.

I tried to run a system restore on multiple restore points but each time I did so, the computer would reboot and a message saying that the restore point was either corrupt or missing. I did a full disk cleanup and analyzation and tried again but to no avail. It can't be my hard drive because I extracted the original downloaded file (in a .RAR) to my D:/ and E:/ drives but again, the same problem with it not being able to open happened.

The thing is, I don't understand how the file could open and run fine for a few weeks and then suddenly, bunk out and not open. If anyone could help me resolve this issue I would be very grateful.

I fixed the problem a long time ago but recieved an email telling me someone responded. I must have forgot to post the solution.

Because the file looked suspicious to AVG and apparently contained a virus, AVG automatically moved the file to a secure location, otherwise known as the virus chest. After uninstalling AVG completely the file would open normally.

To uninstall AVG:

1) Click on Start, Control Panel
2) Open Add/Remove Programs
3) Find AVG in the Programs list and highlight it
4) Click Remove and follow the prompts to uninstall AVG Free

or

1) Click on the following link and download AVG to your desktop
AVG Free - Download installation files & documentation
2) Double-click on the downloaded file to run it
3) AVG will present you with three options to choose from. Choose the Uninstall option to completely uninstall AVG
Add/Remove Components - choose if you want to add/remove some components or reinstall the entire AVG program
Repair installation - this option repairs or reinstalls missing or damaged components of AVG
Uninstall - this option removes the AVG program from your PC
4) Once the uninstall has completed, restart your computer. You can then proceed to install another antivirus or install AVG again.
