Windows 7 RC download page goes up early, coming in May

It looks like someone flipped the switch a little early. The Windows 7 Release Candidate download page on TechNet has made a premature appearance, much like the beta download page did before the beta was released to the public. The public RC will apparently be coming in May 2009, and not in April as previously rumored. The RC testing program will be available at least through June 2009, and the actual build will expire June 1, 2010. Both 32-bit and 64-bit versions will be available in English, German, Japanese, French, and Spanish. This is different from the beta, which was available in English (32-bit and 64-bit), German (32-bit and 64-bit), Japanese (32-bit and 64-bit), Arabic (32-bit and 64-bit), and Hindi (32-bit). A quick glance at the hardware requirements shows no changes between Beta and RC requirements. I expect the download page to be pulled soon, so I've included the text for the page below:

Hello paliometoxo,

The taskbar in 7 is changed. I like it. In build 7000 (the only official beta from MS) it should be there. Have you updated your WEI? This is necessary as the Aero effects are not activated until windows knows that the system is capable of running it. Seven is, of course, built on Vista so there are many similarities. Many of the improvements are 'under the hood' so to speak.

Hope this is helpful.

Gary

Does anyone know if MS is going to give discounts for Win 7 to all the people who either don't like or are having problems with Vista.. IMO, they should..

i dont think they will give discocounts to anyone who had problems with vista or dident like it, personally i think vista is sweet and will upgrade to windows 7 ultimate 64bit when the time comes.. i read somewhere vista users say they should get free upgrade to windows 7.. but bill gates wants the money i dont think there will eb any disccounts . and after using the beta of windows 7, its definatly worth it. cant wait for final release at the beggining of next year or end of this one.

I was thinking about the same thing. I hope we get some type of a promotional price...for testing it. Kinda would suck if we helped microsoft with the bugs and all...and we had to pay the full price for the official release. I guess we will just have to wait and see eh...

Probably not, nor should they. Just because someone "does not like" something or "has problems" does not mean the product is the problem. In my experiance, most Vista problems have been user induced....

Might be, but doubtful. Dell is supposed to be giving out free copies to their customers. I have a dell :p
