Win updates via USB stick instead of via online

Scenario:
I'm presently using dial-up connectivity to save money. Presently there is only one high speed connectivity in my area, and I just cancelled it and I'm not interested in it for now. Dial-up is fine except for the bulky Win updates. They take forever.

Solution:
Download it at another computer at work or library onto a USB flash stick and then take it home and install the Win updates via USB flash stick.

Question:
How feasible is this solution, and has anyone done this? Any caveats?

Question 2:
What about Norton Internet Security updates?

I do not know of any reason that you cannot receive the updates via a usb.
This is not a Norton forum and I do not know the answer to your second question. Your inquiry would be better served at the Norton Forum

Many of the updates do have downloadable installers however I don't know that all of them do. Also some require a validation to verify that you are running a licensed copy of the version that you are wanting to download the update for. When you find out through MS update that there is an update note the name and search for it on Microsoft's website.

Dial up-I would rather not have internet than to pay for dial up. Brings back fond memories.
