WIA problem

I just bought a new Brother printer/scanner and while everything installs correctly, the scanner driver does not. I was on the phone with them and they are telling me its a problem with WIA not allowing the Twain drivers to install properly. I currently do not have any scanners installed and when I go to Scanners in Control Panel, nothing is showing.

I don't know much about this, but is there a way to fix with without having to re-install Vista?

I have Vista Ultimate on a 3 ghz machine with 2.5 ghz ram.

Yes, there should be drivers you can get rid of in Add/Remove applications and device manager. Its not Windows' problem but sloppy drivers. However, what model Brother is it?

I found the problem late last night. It seems there was a hidden scanner listed in Device Manager from a failed installation months ago. I un-hid it, deleted it then reinstalled the Brother software and the scanner works fine now.
