who's to blame ?

just had this bsod, i have suffered this for about 8 months now, is it vista or nvidia at fault, i have tried everything to cure this but it just keeps going on and on and on-----------

Its neither nvidia driver or vista, its your graphics card who's faulty. Try connecting this card on any other computer to check the performance. Guessing that you have the latest nvidia driver for your card, try reinstalling vista and if the problem persists, your card is dying.

i have tried both cards on their own and they both work fine, its only when they are both together in sli that i get the problem

Oh ok, i didnt know you are using 2 cards with SLI. It seems to be caused by the SLI bridge then. Is there a test available on your BIOS that you can use it to test the motherboard?

i had to RMA the motherboard, got it back and it was just the same, i have tried another sli bridge with no effect, i have tried them on their own in both slots and they work fine, it can work for hours ok and then just bsod. is it just nvidia or are ATI cards getting this problem ?.

Where is the Error Number?

Also, have you checked the temps of your Cards & CPU?

How are the volts & timings of your RAM? Are you using the Auto option from the Bios or Manufacturer?

hello AstaLaVista,
ok m8 first the temps, cpu does not go over 42C when on full load, (the Noctua really is a great cpu cooler), the gpu temps hover around 65C to 70C on full load.

volts and timings are all set to manufacturers rec settings, i have tried auto settings but to no avail, it makes no difference.

error number, how and where would i find that ?,

i have googled this and in the main it seems to be an 8800 problem, if i thought a new GTX 295 would fix this i would fit one but i dont want to spend £500 only to find i still have the same problem, i dont think i could cope with that lol.
