White screen with a twist

Hi all.

I have looked around the forum and found some posts with kind-of the same problem, just not the same.

By PC starts up fine, and i sign in. It does not take any longer then usual. Then, my icons disapear and the screen turns white. I can see my cursor, but not right-klick. I can use Ctrl-Alt-Del, and enter the interupt screen, but i CANNOT open the task-manager, a feat available to the other posts conserning the same problem.

I've tried to restart in safemode. I've tried to remove all USB devices.

When i Ctrl-Alt-del and choose either of the shut down/rest/sleep/restart options, my icons reapear, just in time for the log-off/shut down.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Ahlmann87,

Let’s try few troubleshooting steps to check if issue gets resolved:

1. Boot into safe mode then clean boot and check if it works. Providing the link in doing a clean boot for: How to perform a clean boot to troubleshoot a problem in Windows Vista or Windows 7
2. Perform System Restore (only if Software Configuration Changes were made) providing the link for your reference: System Restore - Microsoft Windows

NOTE: With system restore you will not lose any data from the computer, any new programs installed in the computer has to be reinstalled on the computer.

Please post the results.

This could also be because of an infection try to unhide all the files and including operating system files

1. Open Run box - type control folders and hit enter - click on the tab View - check show hidden files and folders and uncheck the "hide protected operating system files (recommended) - clikc on apply and ok, Now check for the files
2. Right-click the desktop, Arrange Icons By, Show Desktop Icons
