Is ATI Radeon 4870 HD x2 better than Nvidia Geforce GTX 280?
And why?
How does the processor core i7 works?
Are there 8 processors ? :P

A quad core 4.0 GHZ, is it 4 GHz / 4 cores , or 4 x 4 GHz ( one Core 4.0GHZ)

A core 2 DUO, what means the DUO?

Does the Processor influence in performance on games?
When will windows 7 be ready?

Those are questions i always had :P.

a problem i have, is i tested my computer with 3dmark 03, and i got 3500 Mark points. I have a Nvidia Geforce 8600M Gt (Notebook). While my brother had over 16000 mark points, and he has a 9600M GT ( macbook on vista ).
What is wrong with my GPU?
Some might say it is overheating, but when i was testing on 3dmark, it didn't overheat.

Generally one GTX 280 will be equally fast when compared to two 4870's, and it is the ideal solution since one can add a second card in the future if an upgrade is desired.

The i7 processors have four cores, each core having Intel's Hyper Threading enabled. This looks to the operating system like there are actually eight cores; it allows each core to process two threads simultaneously, which generally results in greater performance.

A processor does have a significant impact in video games; how much depends on the rest of the components in the system and what the game in question is.

Finally, it is hard to say that anything is wrong with your graphics card without knowing the full specifications of you and your brother's laptops. However, your brother's card is certainly faster than yours; I would guess that your 3DMARK score is just fine.

Is ATI Radeon 4870 HD x2 better than Nvidia Geforce GTX 280?
And why?
Wait and get a Nvidia GeForce GTX 295, I believe they're just as good as two ATI Radeon HD 4870 cards. From all the tests I've seen, they actually outperform two 4870's, and they only take up one PCI-E slot!

How does the processor core i7 works?

There are 4 processors and a system feature called "Hyper Threading". Hyper threading basically "emulates" another 4 cores, but they are not real cores.

A quad core 4.0 GHZ, is it 4 GHz / 4 cores , or 4 x 4 GHz ( one Core 4.0GHZ)
A quad core processor has 4 cores, each of those cores run at the stated speed (4.0GHz). This does not mean that you have a 16GHz processor (4GHz x 4 cores = 16GHz, NO)! Basically all of the cores "support" each other and work together, but they don't all add up.

A core 2 DUO, what means the DUO?
Duo means Two (2).

Does the Processor influence in performance on games?
Yes, very much so! Most games require a more powerful graphics card over a more powerful processor though.
When will windows 7 be ready?
2010 if I recall correctly.
Those are questions i always had :P.
I hope I helped! If I'm wrong in any parts, I'm sure I'll be corrected by someone else soon enough!

Macs seem to run Vista better than most PCs do surprisingly enough! 3DMark scores don't all have to do with the graphics card though, they also take into account your processor and memory (RAM).

Well, thanks, you answered everything.
But, 3dmark also tests RAM and processor.
And, i know that the GPU from my brothers laptop is faster ,but i shouldn't have only 3000 Mark Points, i should have like 10000. ( I checked on the internet )
