Solved Where has "run" run?

I had a tech over yesterday because of internet reception problems, he cured those and alos removed an unwanted program, by getting in and deleting it's keys via regiedit, I can't find the "RUN" command now, ought to be in accesories,right, not there. This joker knows his stuff so he would not hav deleted it, but I can't locatedit---I have also added a program or two to this group, how can I locate run?

Type in run in the start search area and then pin it to your start menu.

Right click taskbar > Properties > Start Menu > Customize. Scroll down to Run command and check its box > OK > Apply > OK . NOW, You should see the Run.... at the bottom of right shaded panel of Start menu

Its in, all programs/accessories/run..

It is not pinnable to start menu from accessories or Start search. But it is an option.. in customizing start menu through taskbar properties menu. It has to be checked.

If you drag it out and then hit the windows key it will get pinned to the start menu.

Start menu disappears the moment you hit any key. I think the easiest way to make it appear in Start menu is just to check it in start menu properties as I outlined above.

If you want it in Start Menu, follow my outlined direction. Also this way, you learn how to tweak taskbar and start menu to customize.

stoopid qestion--wth do I find teh damn taskbar--sorry guys, ask me anything about any OS from DOS 3.3 to Win XP, and I could answer it Vista--I', a newbie at 53--till next week when I'm 54

Taskbar is the narrow strip at the bottom of screen where you have the Start button to the left and a few icons and the time of day to the right.

The quickest way to open open the Run command is to use a standard hotkey: <WINDOWS_KEY>+<R>

But she wants it to show in Start menu just like it has always been before the techie unintentionally erased it during PC repair.

Anyone who does not know what and where the taskbar is should be guided as simply as possible. She is not quite ready for hotkeys...yet.

Let us just restore RUN command where she used to see it by default.

Cathy, darling....I know exactly how you feel. I was a newbie just a while ago at 50...but I have conquered my technophobia and now I really like tweaking this stuff.

But just like anybody who lives in NYC should know how to use the subway, anybody who has a PC should know how to tweak the taskbar. Go ahead...tweak, tweak, tweak. Put that RUN command where it always was.
