When viewing email and I press delete, the previous email is displayed

When viewing email and I press delete, the previous email is displayed. I want to have the next unread email displayed as is normal for most email software.

I looked at all options/preferences/registry settings and cannot find a way to change this behavior...

Please advise...

Joel,
Have you considered updating to Windows Live Mail 2011?
It could be that it is corrupt, if just started.
