What is wrong with search?! (movi vs. movie)

So, I was trying to do a quick search for "Windows Movie Maker". I type in *exactly* that. Nothing comes up in search. I try just "Maker" and I now see the program.

However, if I type letter by letter "Windows Movie Maker", it pulls it up at "Windows M". However, if I keep going to "Windows Movie", it loses it and tells me no files can be found! I can go all the way to "Windows Movi" and it still has it. As soon as I tack on that "e", however, poof! it's gone.

I tried copying and pasting the exact name from the shortcut, same issue.

What is up with this??

Interesting..... When you right click on properites, what is the file path? It should be similar to "%ProgramFiles%\Movie Maker\MovieMk.exe" and the target location should be Movie Maker.

Is that what yours has?

Yup, that's what I have:

"%ProgramFiles%\Movie Maker\MovieMk.exe"

I tried renaming it. "Windows", "WMM", and "Maker" all work. However, as soon I use the word "movie" in any pattern, it will only work if I stop after "i".

And it isn't only Movie Maker. Any file with the word "movie" in it disappears after I hit the "e".

Thanks!

That sounds more like a search problem. Let me look into and I will get back to you.

Oh, wow.....Well, thanks.

Uh, definitely tell me if you need some more information. I think the term "movie" is the only one affected. Or at least the only one I've seen.

I want to see it is something with the character. Maybe Windows doesn't "see" the e as an e, if you know what I mean..

EDIT: Well, searching for Nero worked fine.

Well, I looked all over, and found nothing... Sorry. I am curios if this affects anything else with movie in it. It seemed it found Nero?

Try indexing the WMM files.

OK, indexing the shortcut or the actual MovieMK.exe? I've done both, already, actually...

I'm doing an entire rebuild. It might take a few hours, though, so we'll see. :)

I don't think it is the index...

I tried searching for "Movie" on entire computer (any files, indexed or not) and it found nothing! However, searching for "movi" pulled up plenty of files. Very peculiar.
