You have got to be kidding me. The best defences aren't on the users machine, they are a well planned combination of hardware firewalls, dedicated IDS, and thoughtfully planned ACL on the routers. A better analogy would be
Apple: Lincoln
Windows: Ford
Windows caters to the cheapest economy model (Fiesta & Focus) to the high performance models (Taurus SHO & Mustang in all 100 varieties). Apple caters to people who like things to look fancy (every Lincoln) while being built on the same platforms as the Fords.
Note: for international reference, replace Ford/Lincoln with Toyota/Lexus, VW/Audi
I knew it would upset someone
It's bound too.
Simple fact is Windows based systems face Billions of security threats per day
Apple face a minute amount of that per day.
If Apple were to suddenly be as popular as windows you'd probably have to pay 5 times the amount you pay for it now. Then Apple would be unviable...
Apple have a niche market and would collapse if they became too popular as they don't have the infrastucture too cope on the size of Microsoft.
But, in your analogy,
yes
Apple Mercedes
Windows Ford
But value for money...Windows!
Why waiste your money on a Mercedes computer when you can have a ford one that just about beats the Mercedes in every level of computing.
After all whats in a computer? Stuffing nowt else...
