What do you think about Apple?

I personally dislike it, they charge way too much for their products, and if any one has ever noticed they seem so comeout with a newer version which sometimes is cheaper than the first ever so quickly

The fact they don't suffer from Window threats certainly justifies a small percentage of the price they charge, and they generally have beautiful case designs (not so much the melon with a tube and LCD attached). If a user doesn't mind spending some extra coin on some peace of mind and great looking case, then why not. It's a different learning curve to learn OSX then Windows, but it's no harder or easier, each has their benefits. This topic has been beat to the afterlife. Ubuntu is a great alternative for someone who wants to avoid Windows threats and is willing to try something different. It works surprisingly well out of the box, and with it starting to be an option on select computers, it'd be interesting to see how well they'd do with some proper marketing.

They are more expensive but also more stable.
As has been mentioned, Apple produce thier own pc`s with a set set of hardware conponants, this does make them faster in operation and boot faster.
I do not own one but I know people that do and they never have problems.

I have no experience of them myself but my next door neighbour has one, she got it through college to do with the course she was on.

It's a nice looking machine but I know they cost more and if anything goes wrong you've got a hard job finding anyone who can repair them.

My mother is 4 for 5 on motherboards dying within a couple years as well (crossing the fingers her X86 iMac doesn't die, I'm not going to be anywhere near her to help out unless it's Christmas). Fixing the hardware is no different then a normal PC, I did the mobo swap on her last flat panel iMac, the software isn't much different either. With it being built on Unix, if you know command line and you got some backups it's pretty easy now. Even if you don't have backups, anyone that fixes computers knows how to use google and they can find the help there.

To be honest it's a silly question to have on a windows site.

Apple
A slightly more refined system due to the fact they don't have as much problems as windows based systems. All glitz no balls.

Windows
The best, why? because if there was a system that could be potentially be compromised at any moment because it's being tested to it's limits every second, yet it stays fully functional until a mistake is made by it's user then you would want it, because it has the best defence systems available...

To put it another way:~

Apple - Porsche

Windows - Chieftain Tank!

You have got to be kidding me. The best defences aren't on the users machine, they are a well planned combination of hardware firewalls, dedicated IDS, and thoughtfully planned ACL on the routers. A better analogy would be

Apple: Lincoln
Windows: Ford

Windows caters to the cheapest economy model (Fiesta & Focus) to the high performance models (Taurus SHO & Mustang in all 100 varieties). Apple caters to people who like things to look fancy (every Lincoln) while being built on the same platforms as the Fords.

Note: for international reference, replace Ford/Lincoln with Toyota/Lexus, VW/Audi

I knew it would upset someone
It's bound too.
Simple fact is Windows based systems face Billions of security threats per day
Apple face a minute amount of that per day.
If Apple were to suddenly be as popular as windows you'd probably have to pay 5 times the amount you pay for it now. Then Apple would be unviable...
Apple have a niche market and would collapse if they became too popular as they don't have the infrastucture too cope on the size of Microsoft.

But, in your analogy,
yes
Apple Mercedes
Windows Ford

But value for money...Windows!

Why waiste your money on a Mercedes computer when you can have a ford one that just about beats the Mercedes in every level of computing.

Doesn't upset me, I just hate groundless nonsense ranting. Do you even know what software is out for OS X? You act like there is no antivirus/spyware scanners for them. Apple's are every bit as capable as PCs providing the software is there, and the security market for Apple is more then sufficient for their market share. Do yourself a favor and actually do some research before you start rambling based off of assumptions.
