webcam help!!!

I got a webcam for christmas and i cannot get it to work. Whenever I click on the AMCAP icon on my desktop it says ERROR 80004002: Cannot run preview graph. I have had previous webcams and thought there was something wrong with them, I now know there is something wrong with my computer, what do I need to do to get my webcam to work? PLEASE help I have tried to uninstall, restart, and re-install the webcam to try and get it to work again. Thanks for your help!!

Welcome
Set up your computer to perform a clean boot. In clean boot try the webcam
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

Have you installed the most up to date drivers?
Are they working properly. Go to search type device manager and look for any yellow warning markers.

If all that does not work.

Uninstall all drivers
Unplug the webacam and reboot the system
Go into clean boot again.
Reboot
Plug in webcam
Install all of the webcam drivers etc.
reboot
Hopefully it will work

When I go to check and see if I have the most up-to-date software on my computer in windows it tells me that there is an error: 80070490. I clicked where it says to solve problems with this error and it doesnt tell me what to do or what the error means.

Try this for the error code on the updater.

haha!! I would be more than happy to let you be happy and get this thing fixed!! I am in the process of downloading and updating my computer because of this error, so I am hoping this is the reason for the problem possibly?

Could be, lets just hope.
I dont think that the webcam and update are related, though.
