Webcam Down after a week

Hey all,

I have a new hp dv7-1279 with the integrated webcam, it worked for about a week and then it quit working. I looked in the device manager and it doesnt even register as being there. I tried the driver update with no success. When I boot up the power light for the cam comes on for a few seconds and then goes out. When I try to use it the error I get is, It isnt detected and that it must be turned on. Thanks for any help..

do you have any extra buttons, aside from your keyboard/number pad? or maybe a key combo has to be pressed to enable the camera? on mine, i have to press and hold the "function" key, then press F9.

Try and check in the bios to see if there is an option to enable/disable the camera. on my eeepc it does i dont know about an HP though,.

if not that try re-installing the drivers

i had this problem on my cam as well...
but mine happed after and update to the cam..
i had to unistall it and spent ages looking for the right drivers for it ..
maybe if yu can find the drivers unistall it just suggestion that might help ..
thats how i got me working again
