VPN client installation gives error and reboots pc

Hi all,

I am trying to install nortel vpn client on my dell laptop which has vista home premium. After installing, the machine simply re-starts saying an error has occured. Any solutions...?

Thanks for the response. Yes, it is a 'vista' version. Some of my colleagues have already installed it on their laptops (HP). But mine is a Dell laptop so i don't know if they have some different settings.

I'd check with them first to see if they had to do something special / install extra software and see if those suggestions help.

If not, then we'll have to troubleshoot what Dell might have installed on their system that is interfering with your installation...

sorry for the delay in response.

I have already checked with my friends if they are doing anything special, but they are not. I tried to switch off my firewall and virus protection, but even then I am getting the same error.

The actual error I am getting is: Once the installation is over the machine simply reboots and shows the following error:

A Problem has been detected and windows has been shut down.
BUGCODE_NDIS_DRIVER
If this is the first time you've seen this...
Check to make sure any new hardware or software....
and so on...

Are you using Vista 32 or 64 bit? A lot of VPN clients aren't compatible with 64 bit.

According to Bug Check 0x7C: BUGCODE_NDIS_DRIVER you have a problem with the NDIS driver - basically, that is saying that the VPN is not playing nicely with the drivers for your NIC. Have you verified that your NIC drivers are the latest available from your manufacturer?
