VPN and LAN connected but no Internet

Hello,

I'm connecting to a student accommodation LAN to access the internet at the moment. Once I connect to my university VPN I lose my internet access. If I disconnect from the VPN I get my internet connection back. The problem is that I need to stay connected to the VPN and browse the internet too.

I tried diagnosing the problem with Vista's tools but as expected, it didn't fix it.

What should I do?

Thanks,
Vladimir

If you have a student computing center you can go to, they should help you get on the campus network free of charge.

Or you could just right click on the vpn connection select properties, select networking, select TCP/IPv4, select properties, select advanced tcp/ip settings and unselect 'use default gateway on remote network'. Then restart your VPN connection. I would do it for IPv6 as well. This should allow you to connect to the VPN network, but use your internet for all internet browsing etc.
