After a clean install (numerous times) i keep getting a BSOD. Doesn't show any pattern, sometimes i'll get the BSOD after having the computer on all day, or it'll happen immediately after booting up. No one application is responsible that i'm able to identify. I've disabled all hardware other then my video card, one hard drive and the audio. I've updated the BIOS, all drivers, and am running AVG virus protection and Zonealarm. Doesn't matter if i have Zonealarm and AVG running or not. I've run Memtest86 overnight on several occassions and have no error messages. Done chkdsk and checked the OS files, all okay. Also checked the motherboard for any damage or loose cables. The temperture of both processors are within normal operating range, no problem with overheating. Is there something else i can check or do?

In a BSOD, there is normally a file listed that threw the exception, normally listed in the middle of the screen. What file is throwing your OS out of whack?

eg: nVclp.dll

Additionally, check your motherboard's capacitors, see if theyre either bent outwards or darkened in color. Smell the Mobo as well, if it smells very hot or like burning oil .. well, theres your issue. If your mobo has onboard graphics, try using them after taking your video card out. Swap out your power supply for a known good one (a long shot, but Ive seen it happen). Pull out every perhiperal, addin cards, usb drives, ipods, external devices etc etc. Only have your mouse, keyboard, monitor and LAN hooked up. Take out your wireless card if you have on in. See how your system runs and if its stable, begin adding pieces back in one at a time.

Get a hold of a copy of Eurosoft PC-Check. Burn it to a CD and boot off the CD. Run every test on all of your hardware (only do smart immediate test on your HD's - Run Proc tests, video memory tests and all RAM tests, as well as the mobo tests) If everything passes, back to the drawing board. If somethings fails, ittl tell you right then and there, and even better, what specifically failed in the test and which hardware component isnt working right.
