Vista will not load from HD or DVD - we only get the BsoD

We connected a new LG monitor. Initially it worked fine - but we decided to use the provided disk to install the new driver. The install barely got started when it failed and since then Vista appears to try to load and then goes to the BSOD. STOP: 0x0000C1FS. We've run Dell's diagnostics and nothing seems to be physically wrong. It seems to us that a driver is corrupt. But we cannot get into Vista to fix it. We've tried the option to repair the computer, to run in Safe Mode, etc. - but nothings seems to make a difference. I've tried to boot with the Dell reinstall cd, but is has the same results. But even though the computer reads the reinstall cd, it seems to hit the HD, too. I've tried to go into BIOS and uncheck the hard drive just to see if the cd will boot - but I still see it hit the HD. We were wondering if something in the Bios is corrupt.

I don't have a problem reinstalling the OS, but I don't want to lose some of the data. I have much of it backed up, but not all. Any tools got get our data off before reinstalling.

It seems like we could fix this if we could just get Vista to load from somewhere other than the HD. I don't understand why the reinstall disk won't load and acts just like Vista is loading from the HD.

Thanks,
Terry

The latter is usually a deep seated file system error that's a bear to fix.
Here's the info that I've been able to find on it: BSOD Index

Could you please upload the memory dump file?:
Upload Dump Files:
Please go to C:\Windows\Minidump and zip up the contents of the folder. Then upload/attach the .zip file with your next post.
{Left click on the first minidump file.
Hold down the "Shift" key and left click on the last minidump file.
Right click on the blue highlighted area and select "Send to"
Select "Compressed (zipped) folder" and note where the folder is saved.
Upload that .zip file with your next post.

If you have issues with "Access Denied" errors, try copying the files to your desktop and zipping them up from there. If it still won't let you zip them up, post back for further advice.

If you don't have anything in that folder, please check in C:\Windows for a file named MEMORY.DMP. If you find it, zip it up and upload it to a free file hosting service - then post the link to it.
Then, follow the directions here to set your system for Minidumps (much smaller than the MEMORY.DMP file): Set MiniDump
