Vista will not boot

Hello,
I am running Vista 64 and am unable to boot the PC with the USB printer connected, it stops at the blank gray screen.
Microsoft says my printer(Brother MFC) is compatiable and I have current drivers installed
All the other USB devices do not affect it
After the PC boots, then I can plug the printer back in and it will work fine. I have checked the boot order in the bios and the HDD drive is first.
I have spent more time with Dell TS than I care to mention without a resolution.
Any thoughts or specific instructions will be appreciated.
Thank you

Unplug the printer.
Remove the printer from Device Manager.
From Control Panel Add/Remove programs un-install the printer software.
Re-boot a few times.

Re-install the printer software without the printer being plugged in...it will prompt you to plug it in at the right time.

You should be good to go after this.

PS. Double check the drivers you DLoaded are 64bit.
