Vista takes several minutes to run a Setup, WTF?

Hi everyone, i'm new here, and i just wanna say this forum is great :D
Now here's my problem. I'm kinda a great gamer and when i download demos to test incoming games, i try running their setup and it takes a lot of time to start. About 2-3 minutes of waiting before asking if i want to open the file because it was downloaded from the internet (just with the demos i downloaded from the net, sure), and another 2-3 minutes to ask for permission to open it (the account security control or something like that). Then the task appears in Task Manager under "process" tab but it has only 64 kb of ram and it remains that way for another 4-5 minutes. Finally it starts (after about 12-15 minutes total), it installs and here's another problem. When the progress bar arrives to the end, it takes about 10 minutes to tell me installation was completed (during these 10 minutes installation does not busy the cpu at all). This problem occures only with setups, but not only with game's setups, with program's setups too.
I know there's not such a big problem "at least they install", but it's kinda annoying waiting about 25-30 minutes total to play a damn demo or to install a program.
Has anyone had that problem? How can i fix it? Here there are my specs (it's an HP laptop, 6730s):
Intel Core 2 Duo T5670 @ 1.80 ghz, 4 mb L2 Cache
2 GB Ram
Intel Mobile 4 Series 128 Mb own ram, 796 total
HDD 150 GB (about 42,8 free at this moment)
Antivirus: Kaspersky Internet Security 2009
Windows Vista Home Premium 32 Bit

I think it may be because of your browser... I get that problem whenever i download anything off-of Safari 4, and i also have that problem with Firefox, but with firefox its not THAT long. With IE8 though its fine. Thats all the help i can give. I have that problem as-well and i personally dont kno what's-up with it GL man

Hello Alex95,
How many running processes do you have going on in the back ground, also take a look at your Kaspersky, see if it is set to scan all downloads before you install them.
To check your startup programs, go to,
Search >type "msconfig" >enter.
Go to the startup tab and see what is going on there.
Next go to Services tab, check the "Hide Microsoft services" box and see what is left.
Remember, you can start a program manually when it's needed.
A malware scan is a good idea. Here is the link.

After that clean your registry with this. (Backup your registry when prompted).

CCleaner - Download

Both are free programs and both are good.

I agree with that. Malware can slow down your PC significantly.

And you might want to add some memory to your PC? I'm sure that will make your PC faster... Correct me if I'm wrong.

To DarkDavil: It happens both with Mozilla 3.? (I don't know wich 3.x is it :D) and IE8. So i don't think that's the problem, and i disabled mozilla's autoscan (it scans every file downloaded before you can run it, typing in "about:config" and disabling Browser.AutoScan.Files or something like that).

The number of processes is normally between 75 and 80 (standing on what Task Manager says) and normal used Ram is between 700-950, and i have 2 gigs of Ram.
I have installed both programs, i think too they are great :D I will do later a scan with malwarebytes in safe mode. I used to use CCleaner every night, before shutting down the pc (backupping the registry, sure), so i don't think is anything related with "Cr*ps on the registry".

To Ojaser: I don't think adding Ram will fix this, sure more Ram always speeds up pc, but more ram won't fix this problem, and adding more Ram is not necessary at the moment

EDIT: I scanned with MalwareBytes in SafeMode and nothing was found. I'm starting to think is something very strange, i don't want to format for this stupid problem, if anyone has suggestions, please tell me! I will be glad of every suggestion

Hello Alex95,
There are a lot of programs running in the background that don't need to be, I'm not saying this is your problem, but, if you turn these off, you may gain a bit of speed. I would start by turning these off, and anything else you can think of.
A program, if and when needed, can be started manually.



PDF Document Manager
TuneUp Defrag Service
TuneUp Program Statistics Service
Yahoo! Updater
Onda Autorun CDROM Monitor

Turn these off and post your results. Good luck.

Ok, thanks for the reply, i disabled those services, except the Onda thing, because that's the driver of my usb modem, if i disable it the modem is not recognized and cannot connect, lol.
I gained about 25-30 mb or Ram, but nothing more
I am thinking of a rootkit, can you suggest me a good antirootkit?

Excuse me if i replied so late, but i had a problem with the forum, in poor words, it won't let me write (O_ò).
The Anti-Rootkit you posted gives me a "Operating System Not Supported" error.
I've tried Sophos but it has a bug, it asks me to reboot every time i run it, but i rebooted on the install end.
I don't know wich others i could try, if you can give me a help i'll be glad. Thanks.

Good luck? Uhm i really need some luck, i've just rebooted the pc after a BSOD -.-' (It scaried the hell out of me)
I attached the minidump. F-Secure found nothing, i ran gmer, it found lots of craps (wich were all Kaspersky's things), then windows said that gmer has stopped working, i closed it, went on the folder to run it again and bsod. I attached: minidump, f-secure log BEFORE the bsod, and AFTER the bsod, you can never know, maybe that sh*t was a virus, kaspersky alerted me it wanted to download some sort of .sys files...
Now i'm scanning with Kaspersky, then i'll scan with malwarebytes, and only after i'll download the others anti-rootkits, maybe i'm just alerting for nothing...
EDIT: Kaspersky fuc*ed up trying to remove some sh*t it was using 100% cpu, i had to manually shut it down, and now another thing, something like frhiogowbgowbg.exe is using 90% cpu, and i can't fu*k it. Excuse the bad words but i'm really angry.
