Solved Vista systems tools defragmenter

I have disc defragmenter to run at a certain time, say I am away from my pc and my screen saver comes on does it still work?

as in run disc defrag still?

Hello Adeang,

Yes, the Vista Disk Defragmenter will still run while the screensaver is on. It will only stop running or run slowly when the computer is not idle and in use, or not run at all when the computer is turned off or in sleep/hibernation mode.

The reason it will still work with the screen saver on is because it does not require disc access to display. Screen saver is loaded to RAM, which allows the defrag process to work flawlessly as nothing is read/writing to interrupt the process.
