Vista startup problems

Two problems. First, I cant start my PC normally without having to run a startup problem solver program. And when I click restore, it seems that there is no problem at all. Each of the potential problems proposed by the solver are ok. Then they recommend to send a copy of those tests to Microsoft or something then the computer turns off by itself or go to a black screen with the mouse on it.

Second, if the computer doesn't ask for the startup problem solver, it only starts normally, then it stops on that same black screen juste before seeing the desktop and the only thing I can see is the mouse. Again.

Or, and finally, the computer starts normally, the desktop appears but the mouse doesn't work.

BUT!! While writing this post from another computer, I tried to start my toshiba again, same problems, but on the last try, I went in the F2 setup during the startup, and enabled the mouse (I think; cause I don't know a thing about that F2 setup, and just enabled the tip pad).

So now my computer is working. Finally! But I'm just afraid it was luck or something and I'm worried about restarting the computer ((as AVG Anti-virus ask me to do so now)).

Is there really a problem with my computer or not?? I'm totally lost because it's the first time it's working since a week.. Someone told me it could be two programs opening during the startup on the same.. i don't know what. Or is it a virus or my anti-virus...HELP!
