Vista SP1 vs Vista SP2

Well if others been noticing my used hard drive space threads, I was just wondering. Everything that been happening "started" after I updated and installed SP2. I don't know, I was just wondering is there really any benefits in updating to SP2? Can't I just stay with SP1 and be fine or will I be missing out on some security measures?

Actually sorry I'm not just editing but I thought I add this.

Does anyone know if by any chance when upgrading from Vista SP1 to SP2 delete all previous restore points?

I just remembered that there is a set percentage of 10% that is taken from the total GB on my computer that is set aside for restore points. I wonder... If it is true and that restore points take up 10% of my hard drive it might explain how every time a new system restore point is added a hefty amount of 2-4 gb worth of space is taken from my free space.

It is always wise to keep up with all updates both critical and non-critical and that includes all service packs. Microsoft stopped support for Vista (with no service packs) on July 13 so it wont be too long before support for anything less than Vista SP2 will stop.

A general rule when updating with a service pack - disable your antivirus temporarily. It helps a great deal.

Windows sets how much space System Restore takes up automatically, if it is turned on. You can alter those settings. Read HERE: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/76227-system-restore-disk-space.html?ltr=S

By the way, there have been many updates since SP2 so keep them coming until Windows says you are up to date.
