Vista sleep problems

Hi people,

I have been having trouble with my computer sleeping.

I had just upgraded to Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit from Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit. In 32 bit, sleep worked fine and there were no issues with sleep. I installed 64 bit to (mostly) take advantage of all 4 gb of my RAM. Now, I have all the latest drivers and everything is almost back to normal (sleep and TV tuner (Aver Volar) don't work). Now some of the sleep options in the control panel's power sleep applet are gone and when I make my compuer go into sleep, my computer will always resume with corrupt video (very many white lines all over the screen) and corrupt sound/audio (static sounding).

My computer specs are:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 6000+ overclocked to 3.15 GHz
4.00 GB of Corsair RAM
nVidia GeForce 8800 GTS 640 mb
ASUS M2R32-MVP (using integrated audio)

I would really like to get some help

Thanks in advance

-Orion

P.S. Sorry for posting 3 times (here, another thread and a reply in a different thread), I am unsure on where to post this. Sorry again and please don't get mad at me.

Hi Orion,

As far as I am aware, sleep and hibernation are configured in exactly the same way in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Vista. If you configured the power options in 64-bit exactly the same as you had in 32-bit, there should be no problem. However, you also state that your TV tuner card no longer works properly. I suggest that you remove the card and see if that makes a difference to the sleep function on your system. Another point to note is that people, both here on the Forums and elsewhere on the Web, have reported problems with installing Vista on systems with over 2GB of RAM. If my suggestion of removing the TV tuner card doesn't work, then try reinstalling Vista with only 2GB on board. The rest of the memory can be replaced once installation has completed.
