Vista runs slow when not at home

For some reason when I run my computer from work it runs extremely slow. The the only difference I can see that could be affecting it is that at home I use wifi to connect to the internet. I'm always connected to the internet. At work there is no wifi, and not connected to the internet. Could it be trying to do something online, but since it cant connect, keep trying and trying and trying slowing everything down?

To fix it I have to restart it. This seems to do the job, however I'd rather not have to do this every time.

At home this never happens. I never have to restart it to get it to move faster. And this happens EVERY TIME at work.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

alec

Yes, if you are remotely logging in. However, have you configured the software and router properly?

I'm not trying to log into my works wifi. My system itself is just running slower when I'm NOT linked to my wifi at home (when I run programs that have nothing to do with the internet). When it's not connected to the internet I'm having this problem with my overall system.

Fill in your hardware specs and use HWInfo32:

HWiNFO32 Download

What antivirus are you using? What runs at startup in msconfig? What apps have you installed?

i think it is just scanning around for access points while you are disconnected.
press the Windows button on your keyboard and at the same time press x. click 'Turn wireless off'. post back.

also have a look at what Frostmourne says as well.
