I would like to re-install my version of Windows Vista Home Premuim, and i have the installation disc and everything, because my computer is so slow.
I am making a back-up disc of everything i would want on the computer, including program files, Can i still install over my computer and the drivers for my modem and everything would be on the disc, or not?

Hello Shaguard,

After reformatting drive and installing clean system you will have to reinstall all drivers and applications, unless you have portable programs. You can backup all your data, music and such, but no drivers and programs. If you don't have recovery disk with drivers and apps better download and safe them on the CD disc. Drivers you should find on your computer manufacturer site.

Guess it helps. Cheers...

Is the Apps and drivers on the same recovery disc?
I have a disc that says "Drivers and Utilities",
so i'm guessing that's it?

It depends, sometime these discs are included with the computer and the Vista DVD disc. If not, computer manufacturer installs special software to burn such disc by its user along with the Vista recovery one. If your machine was custom built you will have to find all drivers and programs by yourself on the web.
What kind of computer and brand do you have? Maybe I could help in gathering these softwares.

Yep, that's it. Drivers And Utilities disc it what you need after installing fresh OS.

I have an Intel Premium D. That's all i know about it, lol.
It has windows home premium, and i had it custom built, and i have the Installation disc and the other one i told you about along with microsoft works and such.

I'm only worried about the driver for my modem and everything, because without it, my vonage phone won't work, and if i have internet, i can just download the other drivers i need.

To find needed driver for modem go to Device Manager and under Modems click Driver. Then note everything about it, the driver provider, driver date, version etc. these information will help you in finding this driver, if it's not on the disc. You could do this with all drivers to have the reference after reformatting your drive.

Well, if you gonna do this for the first time it will be little hard to do. Your other option would be to ask for help in reinstalling everything your friend. Before you will proceed check whether you have everything you need, if you are using, let's say the Firefox, download it and safe the installer on the disc, do this with every program you have on the machine right now. Check what you have got on the Driver and Utilities disc, do not install these utilities, just check what's there.
