Hello, i was just wondering what registry defrag i should use, or even a reg clean up and then a reg defrag, I Use Auslogics Boost Speed, and Uniblue Registry... Is there any other ones that wont screw up your system, and actaully improve it and not make it crash or go slower?
They will ALL screw up your system if you dont know how to use them.
Reg Cleaners are the biggest gimmick, and they almost always cause corruption of Windows. They are marketed as "performance Boosters", and "speed Increasers", and most inexperienced users just let them run, and let them "clean" whatever they want. Next thing you know they have BSOD's, and Windows/programs start crashing. They come here asking for help. Most of the time the only way to fix the damage done is to re-install Vista.
So I suggest to you, If you want to use all these reg cleaners, that you backup all your data files with Vista's file backup Utility (weekly), because one day you are gonna wish you did.
Reg Cleaners cannot distinguish between unwanted and legitimate entries. If you dont know the function of the entry it wants to "clean" you should not let it- or you will end up with corruption and/or Instability. Most people learn it the hard way. Look around the forum- an awlful amount of Issues here are directly related to reg cleaner corruption.
