vista problems

i have been having a few problems with my new vista computer its a hp txz 2500z with vista buisness and im the administrater acount if that will help

first prob is when i try to log off or shut or restart down the computer it hangs in the shutingdown or loging off screen and i have to use the power button to turn it off

other prob is the taskmanager wont show up. i see its icon in the bottom right bar (green gridlike box) it jus wont show up on the screen


last some programs wont open like itunes or the conect to a network and network setings and sometimes windows defender i think they might run in the background but i cant get taskmanager running

You might want to check to see if your system files are ok...

Then do a good virus scan

If you think Defender is causing app conflicts, try temporarily disabling it and see if that clears itunes and network issue....

i couldnt get steps c d and e to work in the sfc / comands

it works fine now guess i just had to start it upin safemode.

marry i dont think u get what i mena. when i try to shut down restart or log off the vomputer hangs at the shuting down screen. in order to turn off my computer i have to hold the powerbutton. i dont want to change the setings for the powerbutton

I know that, I wasnt going for that I wanted you to check and see if you noticed any abonormalites under those steps. If you do the power buttons advance settings, it could be a way to figuring out the problem. Sorry I didnt clarify, but I do understand what your problem is.

This person went to task manager and turned off DWM.exe....Anyways they have a unique way, which is different then every other forum which pretty much says its some program you have installed.
