Vista Premium FS2004 Joystick Woes

I have just upgraded from Windows XP to Windows Vista Premium (My XP laptop died!). Having installed Flight Simulator 2004 and tried two different joysticks I cannot get the throttle/slider function to operate the throttle within the game. This is most frustrating as I bought the new laptop with the intention of running this game. I am using an Acer aspire 6920G and a Thrustmaster Top Gun After burner joystick. I've also tried my logitech wingman 3D but am experiencing the same problems. I have calibrated both joysticks and checked all the in game settings. Both joysticks worked flawlessly with XP. Any ideas Please Please!!!!! :(

I've checked the Thrustmaster driver site and there appears to be no requirement (Or driver available) for the after burner 2960470 joystick. Have played around some more I can now tell you that none of the joystick axis appear to work once you start a flight in FS2004. During calibrate mode all the axis work however once you try and fly they dont. I thought at first that it was a Vista compatibility problem however I had combat flight sim 3 installed and the stick works normally with that. For some reason there must be a conflict between fs2004, vista and this stick?

OK People it is gone 2am in the morning and I have lost the wil to live trying to get my joystick to work with FS2004!!! I have uninstalled the game, reinstalled, proved the joystick will work, installed my add ons only to find the bloody thing has stopped working on its axises once again. Having reinstalled the game a third time I now find that it doesnt work again!!! Is it vista or is it FS2004? Help!!!!!! Bearing in mind it works with combat fs3 on the same machine! Is it worth buying a new joystick?
