Vista Password Control

I think this has a simple answer ( yet I to not know it )

Evey ~ 45 to 90 days the system asks me to change my password. I do not know where to to turn off this feature or manage it.
Today I enter a carriage return as my password yet wold like to dump this all together.

Can any one advise where to manage this service ( on/off etc)
