Vista nVidia color profile (correction) load at startup...help???

If you've noticed, ever so slightly but gradually, nVidia seems to be taking away our abilities to control the color profiling through the driver for our video cards. First, they made it harder to access it by nesting it with the right click context tray menu, then they outright took it out in the later drivers, and now it can almost barely be even controlled in Vista. Now, apparently Rivatuner can't even access that portion of the driver, because of nVidia's driver design.

Basically, what I need is to do color correction for each of my monitors. I cannot do this with Rivatuner, which is what I have been using as a stopgap, because it's not functional, but I'm not sure if due to Rivatuner's design or the driver's.

Is there any other program out there that will allow me to control and load separate color correction profiles for each of my 2 monitors separately at startup? The nVidia color correction that is offered via nVidia's control panel is unsightly and is hard to control, and doesn't tell me whether or not these profiles will be loaded at startup, and neither does it give me the option to control multiple profiles if I wanted to.

Preferably, I'd like to have a tray based app that will let me do this. Any help/suggestions are appreciated.

Have you uninstalled your NVidia drivers before installing the new versions (175.16 latest) this includes Rivatuner too and have you launched Riva with Administrative Permissions?

Can you post a screenshot of GPUZ so we have some information on the graphics hardware/bios your using? I believe you have a EVGA 8800GTS if Im correct...

Yes, I have the latest nVidia drivers installed. I also installed Vista from scratch, and am also running the latest Rivatuner with admin privileges.

Yes, I can provide those when I get home, no problem.

I am running an nVidia 8800GTS. The problem is not with Rivatuner; it's the way nVidia coded the drivers specifically for Vista. As a matter of fact, with Rivatuner, it's a known issue. It says in the documentation that driver level color profiling is not available with Rivatuner under Vista due to nVidia's driver limitation. Under Windows XP, it works perfectly fine, using the same hardware.

What I'm trying to find out is if there are any alternative programs that I could possibly use for the purpose of allowing me to control color correction profiles under Vista.

Yeah, Spyder3 is supposedly very good at setting different monitor color profiles, www.datacolor.eu - Datacolor AG, Europe (Zurich, Switzerland) , You can also use the Vista color management panel to set individual and system-wide profiles and you might need todo this to make your current rivatuner profile load correctly and the same go`s for Spyder3 or other color profile programs. They cannot always set the default color profile for your monitors.

This had got me thinking, because I remember during my trial runs yesterday I came across that. It was heavily nested within menus, so it was pretty hard to get to. Will that recognize profiles according to different monitors?

Yes, Just select the device or monitor first, that you want to set before changing/setting the profile...

The point of Profiles is doing just that

Try them and let me know if theres any improvement...

I'm also hoping I found another program I can use to do the color correction for me: Powerstrip. I'm going to give that a shot also.

If you have photo shop ?
it comes with a programe found in the 32 bit control panel on vista 64 called adobe gamma.
It lets you adjust the color, contrast, and of course gamma. It has just as many if not more options that graphics card drivers give u with color correction properties etc. Once you activate it and set up your preference options it will auto load up your settings at windows startup.

I tried this route, but it was buggy at best, not to mention that it doesn't give me the ability to switch back to the default profile at will. I'd have to uninstall the profile and then reboot in order to get defaults.

Not if you make your 'default' settings (prior to making the new profile) into a profile *first*.

Yeah, I tried that, but it didn't work. There's no real way to apply color profiles on the fly.

I figured this one out. Rivatuner had the functionality after all, albeit a bit hidden. I'm using low-level color profiling now, and, while not perfect, it works just fine. I've assigned the monitor profiles now to hotkeys.
