Vista max copy speed of 15 MB/s?

Basically, I can't get my copy speed to be higher than 15 MB/s. Here are some things I have tried:

- The default Vista copy service varies from 9-12 MB/s, and Teracopy has a copy speed of exactly 10 MB/s, continuously.
- Remote Differential Compression and Search Indexing are both disabled.
- I have two drives. One is brand new and the other I defragged today.
- Both drives have been Error Checked yesterday, and neither had any errors.

I've really run out of things I can think of that could fix it. Can anyone help me? I just bought a fast hard drive, and this is a joke.

Welcome to vistax64 Forum.
One of the causes which may delay copy, is hardware that is connected to the PC.
If so, then you have to disconnect as much hardware as you can during copy.

Did you go to device manager and set the properties, policies,for the drive

Additional things I tried:

- I have set the cache writing policies in the drive manager, made no difference.
- turned off Autotuning, and I thought that fixed it, but now I tried copying over network again and it gives me the same arbitrary limit of 10 MB/s.
-the only hardware I can realistically disconnect is my printer, headphones and speakers. Do you really think that would make a difference?
EDIT: turning off Autotuning quadrupled my copying speed from hard drive C to hard drive D and vice versa, but it had no effect on network copying.

Do you really think that would make a difference?

I can not say for sure, but to set an example :
If I write an image of my hard disk with all the hardware connected,
I have about 30 mbps, if I disconnect all hardware (which is not much), I have 85 mbps (XP on an HP laptop).
Same story on Vista (Acer Aspire 5738G) hardware connected: 120 mbps, hardware disconnected: 180mbps.
Of course there may be other causes for the slow copying.
Perhaps more skilled members of this Forum can help you with this problem.
I recommend to wait for other opinions,
as we have several great members here on this forum who probably can help you to determine the culprit.

As I understand it the gigabit network only runs at a theoretical 100/125 MBytes/sec.
What are your download & upload speeds through your router/modem?
What is the ISP connection set for? Is it set for a maximum of ?
Could these have a bearing on your problem/
These are merely ideas, I was looking at different possibilities for slow copy.

The download speeds from the internet are different from those when copying over a network, apart from that excellent advice!

I would expect removing USB devices may help but not the others. ex.speakers

All I see for technical info in Home Premium. Can you give some info on network interface, speed and drive types speed? Everyone seems to be assuming Gb network but I didn't see where it's specified.
