When I try to put my computer to sleep, the monitor will stay asleep, but the computer comes back on almost instantly I have tried changing all the setting I can, in power settings. It doesn't make any difference how I try to put it to sleep it just comes right back on. When it is set to go to sleep after so long a time, it still comes back on.
I am running a HP Pavillion. Model a6712F.. Processor Pentium (R) Dual Core CPU [email protected] 2500Mhz,2 Core(s) 2 logical Processors
I do not know how long it has been doing this, I just recently tried putting it to sleep, maybe month ago, and discovered it will not stay asleep. I usually just turned it off. The computer is a couple years old now.

Thanks Leona D

Welcome Leona.
There are several reasons that your computer will not stay asleep. The most common is that it is being waken by the nic card (internet). Understand how to solve that cause, and many others.

Run a full anti virus scan. Download and run a full scan with malwarebytes, not only for this sleep problem, but as a routine precaution.

I don't have the choice of Hybernate, or Hybrid Hibernate in my power settings for sleep.
I just recently ran MalwareBytes and SuperAntiSpyware and it was clean. I am printing off the instructions you sent me and will see if I can do any thing with them.. Thanks so much for your help.

You are very welcome
I think that step four and/or five is your solution.

I have my problem solved.. Just had to keep going through the list till I found the problem.. I found that the Problem was in the Network Adapter, under the Realtek PCle GBE Family controller.. It was set to wake my computer... I guess it was the DSL that was waking it.. I want to thank you again for your help.. Now I can sleep again. ..
