Vista Home Premium v Office 2007 issue

Sorry if I repeat what someone else already raised, but did not find something matching my issue.

I recently installed Vista SP1, along with an upgrade of my Norton virus software, and a few issues seem to have reared the heads with it. I managed to work through problem DLLs, EULALauncher issues and Quicktime failures, but my problems with my Microsoft Office Suite remain unresolved.

Basically, I can open Word, Powerpoint or Excel and it seems to be going to work okay, but, within a second or two of opening, I get a ".... stopped working" message and Microsoft is searching for a solution. No solution is reported and the failed package closes.

I have Microsoft Office 2007 Home & Office, but though I installed off the disk I purchased, I only see Microsoft Office Trial in the directory, which I am very nervous to uninstall in case of further repercussions. I did try to reinstall using the aforementioned disk, but when I action the setup utility, it too opens like it is going to work and very soon after closes without doing anything.

Anyone experienced similar issues and if so, any recommendations to get Office back and working please?

This leads me to believe that you might have installed the trial version that comes with Vista operating system.
Which is why the best solution is to uninstall this trial version completely from "Uninstall programs" in Control Panel and re-install the version you have on the disk.
I had the same exact problem yesterday as I was installing my 180 day trial version from a disk, and I had installed the 60 day trial version that comes with the operating system before hand. I went ahead and uninstalled the 60 day version, then re-installed the 180 version but when I opened any program it kept saying "Your software and trial have expired".

Hopefully for you, you have the full version that you bought, should definitely work just fine.

I guess I can give it a go at uninstalling the existing Trial version. I recall that when I used the purchased disk it suggested I could activate with input of my key code rather than full install.

My only worry is that given setup failed when I tried to call it directly already, that when I have removed the Trial version I might find I am no further forward and that Setup still does not work. But that may then be a different issue.

There is no trial version that comes with *Vista*. There *are* trial versions that OEMs install to make a little money off Microsoft so they can keep the prices of their machines lower.

If it is the trial version, and you installed it without entering a key, that is what you installed - the trial version. Since it will not stay open long enough for you to enter a key, I'd go ahead and remove it and start over - and this time enter your key.

So if any student purchases Office 2007 Ultimate through the ultimate steal offer but doesn't download it, the key would work on any other installation i.e. using a friend's DVD but using one's own purchased key?
