Solved vista hard drive fix

i have vista home os system
its a dell inspiron 1501
2 gigs of ram
and a 80 gig hard drive
but when i log onto my system it says i have a 60 gig hard drive
can anyone help i just want to find out why it does this:D

Hi,

Post a screenshot of Disk Management.

To get to Disk Management:

Click Start Orb>Rt click Computer>click Manage (wait a few seconds for a new window to open )>click Disk Management in the left pane - in a couple of seconds you will see your hard drive partitions.

To post a jpeg screenshot, click the Quick button , then Go Advanced and follow step 8 onward of this tutorial

Hi Bgtiger, and welcome to Vista Forums.

Since you have a OEM computer, the other 20 GB may have been used for a D: recovery partition. Disk Management will show this if this is the case.

Yes, I expected it to be , they are often 9 or 10 gb. With some manufacturers, there is also a small "system health" partition.
