Hello,
I am a newbie to this forum. I am very computer challenged. I have a HP xw8600 Workstation which I got a deal on at Christmas time. It has a Intel Xeon Dual Core 5260 3.33GHz processor, 16 gig memory, Nvida GeForce 8600GT graphics, 3Hard Drives. (2)1T Western Digital hard drives, 1 500 gig WD hard drive. It has x32bit Vista Ultimate installed on one T hard drive and x64 bit Vista installed on the other 1T hard drive. 500 gig hard drive is ITune back-up. The x32 bit Vista (SP2) runs great and has AVG anti-virus. But that is where the good ends. x64 Bit Vista (SP2) is unstable and suffers randon freezes. Static screen with everything locked up solid resulting in hard shut downs as the only option. I have read some of the posting here and see people asking questions which are way over my head so I am looking for some one with lots of patience that can walk a computer challenged older gent through what I might do to figure out why this thing wants to freeze up. In an earlier post in the wrong area I mentioned that I download Driver update software and registry repair. I download a AV program recommended from this site but again I can't remember what it is as I am currently at work and not at home where the computer is. Again I am looking for a starting point as I am frustrated that the 64 bit system isn't operating correctly. Thanks Mike
