I joined this site because I have tried to find this out definitively and no one has been able to answer and I am hoping the wonderful people here, or even an MS-MVP, can truly answer my burning desire?
Does Vista's DRM cause issues when simply working in Word or other Office programs when creating content yourself?
HD video is not a big concern, nor is HD nor otherwise premium digital media. I want to know I can use my Vista PC for average things and really enjoy it.
I know I really love Vista if I could get the truth and have it be so positive, like I have a feeling it really is.
My system is a Toshiba Satellite L305-S5877 with a 2.0GHz Merom Core 2 Duo T5750. It has 3GB PC5300 DDR2-667MHz SDRAM in the SO-DIMM form factor and it has a 200GB Serial ATA-II HD (my research says 150Mbps), runs Vista Home Premium SP1 32-bit, after Vista SP2 caused some performance issues that I am hoping are rectified later on. It may have been my computer, but SP2 didn't seem to work as well on it.
It has the Centrino technology in Santa Rosa Implementation, and it runs both Vista and Aero plenty fast enough for me. I just want to know that if I don't worry about HD or otherwise premium content, and I buy legal software, I won't have to worry about Vista's DRM being an issue. I prefer to play high-def content on a (as yet unaffordable on my small budget) HDTV. I apologize if that preference is offensive, because I am trying hard not to offend anyone.
I can't wait for Windows 7, Internet Explorer 8 and Office 2010, because I really think (after trying the Windows 7 release candidate) that while Vista is great, Windows 7 will be even better.
Just help me not feel so bad about Vista (since I know it isn't all true, but some of it may be) while hopefully not disinforming me is all I ask. I am willing to apologize for offending anyone.
Most sincere respect to all,
Alex Harris
