Is it possible to install Vista 32bit over the x64bit version?? We purchased a new laptop and it has x64 on it, some of our programs are not compatible. Thanks for any assistance!!!
Sorry, but it is not possible to install the 32-bit version of Vista over the 64-bit version without a clean install. This is also true for going from 32-bit to 64-bit.
Before you start, you need to make sure that you can get 32-bit drivers for your laptop. These can be obtained (if available) from your laptop manufacturer.
One thing that may be worth trying is seeing if your incompatible programs can in fact be run in compatibility mode - see: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/75909-compatibility-mode.html. You could also check the program manufacturer's websites to see if there are any upgrades to the programs to enable them to operate in a 64-bit environment.
