vista desktop problem

Hello, I have just started getting a problem, when I click on my mail icon or any icon i have that links to the internet, such as for example, icon for my golf course, or my email link , the screen auto opens to office 2007 main screen.

It baffles me, then I have to restore to an earlier date to get things running normal again.

is there a recent update to Windows Vista Home premium or IE9 I need to install.

The next time it happens, open Control Panel, Default Programs.
Click on Associate a file type or protocol with a program.
Scroll down to htm and html. Click on each one and set the default program to your web browser, IE or Firefox or Chrome, whichever one you normally use.
