Vista and IE7

Inconsistent image display by Vista

I have a problem with images on web pages that I have written when opening them on my computer.

When I go to any of these web pages on the internet using IE7, there is no problem with any images displaying on the page. So it seems to be a Vista-generated problem more than an IE7 problem.

When I open the very same page stored on my computer, some of the very same images which opened on the internet (stored on the server) do not display (same image but stored on my computer).

There is no red x and the circle symbol at the top to the left of the page name goes round without ever changing to the e symbol.

So it seems that the images are found on my computer, and IE7 tries but can not load the image onto the page.

It makes no difference if it is .gif, .jpg, or .png. Some of them on the same page will display and some do not. Some that display at one time, will then not display if the page is closed and opened again.

I have run sfc /scannow, a registry cleaner (Registry Booster), CCleaner, Spybot, Ad-aware, deleted temporary internet files, history, and cookies, and have an anti-virus program.

There is no such problem with Firefox, Google Chrome, or Opera. It is not an html code problem.

I suspect that Vista has generated a corrupt file somewhere. If that is the problem, I don't know how to find it and so far can not find any mention of this problem in any search.

I want to solve the problem, not just avoid it by changing image references.
