Vista 64 re-install

Sorry if this has been posted but I couldn't find an exact answer in the search.

I had a MoBo go bad on me after about 2 weeks and Vista was done as a clean install. I sent the board back for an RMA and will build my PC again.

Since I'll be using the same hardware, will I be able to install Vista again or will I have to buy another copy? I got the OEM verision from a retailer.

Thanks,

Riko

Hi RikoSuave,

If the new mobo is identical to the old , you may be ok.

If not, you might try ringing M$ using the freephone on the phone activation page. Explain you had to change your mobo. I have heard that couple of people say they were able to activate that way.

See point 9 here

Good Luck

Thanks SIW2!

I've had luck in the past with Millenium and XP by phone and thought that might work but just wanted to confirm from someone here.

I know that the Vista install marries the MoBo and Chip but there should be some way to get help when hardware issues crop up.

Cheers,

Riko
