Using Vista 64 I want to completley reformat my harddrive and reinstall vista but it doesnt seem to want to let me delete everything it wants to backup some files and put them in a windows.old folder.

I obtained a virus that cant be removed by any program (I've literaly tried everything spent days trying) I just want to reformat with no backups.

I remember reformating reinstalling windows XP by using a dos command after bios like /reformat C: or something?

How do I completely reformat my main drive in Vista?

You boot from the Vista DVD and choose the advanced install option. You will be offered a choice to format the drive before installing Vista.

I'm having trouble getting the boot CD option to work.

I modified bios boot sequence to make priority to sata CD then it restarts then a prompt comes up, saying..

Boot from CD press any key to continue..

so I press any key then it shows a bar loading for about 15 seconds..then a green/blue splashscreen pops up with a moveable mouse curser and just sits there nothing happens. Just a plain bluegreen screen with no words or icons.

Any idea?

I coincidentally need to reformat a laptop running 32-bit Vista, but I can't remember how to do that. What exactly to I press on boot to get to the menu where you can erase partitions? I know this post isn't quite on topic, but the thread seems opportune enough.
