virus or malware ?

Hi I have a few ?s I,m running home premium x64 on a pc I,ve been getting errors on my hard/drive when I scan with sys/machanic I have gone through chk/dsk several times and it fixes it for a short time. But now chk/dsk doesnt fix it and Im having problems with other program. When I tried to reinstall panda global protection windows turns it off. Tried reinstalling panda several times. Have also ran spybot and malwarebites with no help, ran System File Checker and sys32 is corrupt. Can I do a repair install? The o/s a pre installed gateway sys home premium x64 THX for any suggestions Will

Try this.
Open a command prompt as administrator and type sfc/scannow press enter and let it scan, if errors are found you may need to run the scan again, until the scan comes up clean.

Also, on boot up press F8 and highlight "Last Known Good Configuration" press enter and boot.

Give this a try, good luck and post your results.

Hallo Frog, on top of the sound advice from our other members. You quote;

Ststem mechanic has a registry cleaner which could explain a lot of your problems, rather than me going on about Reg. cleaners i would encourage you to use this forums search function so you can make your own informed decision as to whether or not to continue using a registry cleaner.
I would follow Rich & Stoneys advice & if still having problems i think your own suggestion of repair or clean install would be your next step if SFC /scannow & check disk do not give the needed results

Assuming of course that Sys/mechanic has not created registry backups that you could restore
