Video Related problems

Hey guys I've had this problem for 2 months know and after trying absolutely everything I can think of and following a lot of online troubleshooting procedure I'm still totally at a loss as to how to fix my media Center. It seems that whenever I watch a video in media center in full screen mode it works fine until the play/pause taskbar at the bottom of the screen auto minimizes then it gets extremely choppy and looks like its having some sort of seizure. Yet if I move the mouse on screen again to bring up the taskbar again it runs smoothly once more. Alternatively when the screen is not maximised if I dont move the mouse at all it runs smoothly but the second I bring the mouse onto the mediacentre screen the same thing happens and the video goes all black until the taskbar auto hides. This problem occurs while watching a movie or live tv in media center, yet if i watch the exact same video footage in media player the problem does not occur. I've updated all drivers (taking extra care to make sure I have the newest graphics card drviers) and installed a shark codec set in the hopes that might offer some assistance. But this was all to no avail. If anyone knows how I can overcome this problem it will be greatly appreciated.

My specs are as follows:
I have Vista home Premium 64 bit
Radeon HD 4850
8Gb ram
1.5 Tb HDD
Intel duo core 2, 3.2 Ghz processor

Repairing Windows Vista Media Center files
You can use the following steps to repair the files that are a part of Windows Vista Media Center:

1. Click on the Start menu, choose All Programs, then Accessories, then right-click on the Command Prompt item and select Run as administrator
2. Click Continue to authorize opening a command prompt with administrative privileges
3. Run this command in the cmd prompt: sfc /scannow
4. The cmd prompt should list text stating "Beginning system scan. This process will take some time."
5. Wait for the scan to complete (this can take several minutes so be patient). This command will scan all protected system files and attempt to replace incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions
6. When the scan completes, the SFC tool will indicate whether or not it found any problems and whether or not it was able to fix them
7. If any errors are reported that SFC was unable to fix, there are steps in this knowledge base article that explain how to locate and attempt to fix the errors
8. After fixing any errors that are found, try to use Windows Vista Media Center again

Hey simonc555 thanks for the tip, but when I scanned my comp under admin and it completed succesfully I got the message "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations". And after retesting mediaplayer i found to my frustration the problem is still not resolved.

What decoder are you using? Have you checked the windows decoder utility to make sure that only one is running? (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...AC-0AB6-4990-943D-627E6ADE9FCB&displaylang=en)

I tried the decoder utility, but didnt make a difference.... it seemed to be more focused on media player than media centre.

I tried the decoder utility, but didnt make a difference.... it seemed to be more focused on media player than media centre.

They both use the same decoder. What did the utility show? If you are using something like PowerDVD, you need to set SPDIF in the decoder as well as in the sound card.

Sorry for my last mention of SPDIF, I answered the right question but in the wrong thread. lol
