vcd to photo gallery movie maker?

I have several vcd that I made of scanned slides with Nikon Picture Project on a Windows XP. Now I have a different computer and it has Vista Home Premium 64 bit. I can put the vcd in and it will play on media player and I was able to save it to Movie Maker- sort of. ( It sounded as if it was saving...) It will play the vcd on movie maker, but it will not play unless the vcd is in the dvd player of the tower even though the icon is in movie maker .

So, my question is two fold: 1. Is it possible to get the vcd saved to the computer for use in Movie Maker and 2. Is it possible to break down the photos into individual photos rather than the entire video? Thank you.

You should be able to go to the cd from My Computer and Rt Ck the cd drive and browse the cd.
Then all you need to do is height light all files and copy to a folder on your pc
