User Profile

To cut a long story short I have got myself in a bit of a mess. Initially I was unable to log on to my user profile so I logged on through my husband's, deleted my user profile (retaining folders and files) and recreated it hoping it would pick my files and setttings. No such luck, I couldn't find my files at all and had to restore them from backup. I now have my user profile back (C:\Users\Moira) but do not have a log on icon at start up. I tried copying the files into a new profile but of course the path changed to all the projects I started before all this happened and I will have to redo all my settings. I also tried to copy the profile in the advanced system settings but this did not work. Is there any way I can restore the 'Moira' icon to the start up screen? Hope someone can help. Thanks.

Hi Moira, I have Norton security, and it wont let me do a system restore until I go into setting's, and untick the box, tamper protection,
I am sure if you have a simular security it will be the same, or try going into safe mode and try that way, good luck.

I did the same thing and the documents where moved to my desktop. Please check there. Simply restoring the folder from the backup isn't going to restore the profile since it does not restore the profile's settings in the registry however after the restore you should have had the documents provided that the are in the backup.

Hi. Thanks for the advice. I tried disabling AVG and then doing a system restore but no luck. Then I tried it in safe mode but again no luck. I think I may just have to find a work round. I can at least get to my files it's just that if I open say Nero Video and try to open an existing project all the file paths are wrong.

Yes, thanks. I do have all my documents etc but I am just trying to get everything back as it was before so the paths to the files are the same.
